blanka outsized timecheck
I recall a short period in my early teens where my brain was SO bored with life that I could tell you the running time of any track I owned, I could tell you the attendance at any game for the past 3 or 4 weeks, I could tell you the two tracks that were adjacent to any track you named from any major compilation album released in the past 4 or 5 years. For two disc sets, the last track on one disc was ‘adjacent’ to the first track on the next disc for the purposes of this game.
This tee from blanka would have been perfect back then. Perfect.
I could list the ingredients in all readily available chocolate bars. I could give you the gear ratios of all the Muddy Fox bikes. Man! What a geek!

uk cafe press opens
Now cafe press shops suck. This I know. But if you live in the UK they have always sucked even MORE because the postage would cost you more than the shirts, and then the nice gentlemen at customs and excise would charge you £30 import duty on a $10 tshirt. Then DHL or whoever the carrier is will charge you an extra £5 for touching the package, £5 for delivering it, and an extra 15% just for fun. That $12 funny Obama shirt ends up costing you more than a small car. So joy - you can now buy cafepress stuff in the UK without all that extra stuff.
Oh - and the code I chopped is DEMINT1 - Oh 2 - and if you know of a good cafepress shop let me know. I wouldn’t want to continue condemning them without due cause.
credit crunchless cassida
So we are in recession. Nice. I never liked money anyway. It just gets crumbled in your pocket and then the guy at the sweet shop says he thinks it’s a fake and you have to go to the atm again. Bah. We’re better off without it. Back to a life of hunting and gathering - that’s the life for me. Use your last 120 EURO on this tee from cassida. If you’re going to hunt and gather, you might as well do it in an expensive top! (not that expensive though - we got a coupon code for you - discount of 20% with : “discount20″ )
And if you worry that 120 EURO might be too much - it has a shoulder print too! At least doubling the cool factor. Also has the advantage of identifying you from behind - so that your fellow uhnters and gatherers will know not to shoot you in the back and eat you.
skyscape wonderland
Winter (apologies southern hemispherians) is upon us and my neck hurts. During the day I’m staring upwards at the geese in their odd scrappy V shapes sqwaking their way across the sky. At night I’m staring upwards trying to remember how to spell “pleidies”, and trying find Jupiter.
This tee from medicated clothing (really sweet little indie tee website) might replace the night time part of that pretty nicely. If you live in the city head out into the sticks this weekend and stare skywards. It’s fun once you get over the freezingness. Honest! Wear more than just a t-shirt though!
If you are planning a trip to view the stars, take some friends and some nice malt whisky in a tiny hip flask and make sure you look up the difference between shooting stars and satellites because it’s wrong to wish on space hardware.
hibiscus or poppodom?
One of the great joys of life has to be saying enjoyable words. Nature is the best source of excellent words, mainly because botanists are all drugs addled hippies with a lyrical penchent for wordplay and polysyllable funtime. Coffee varieties can be great - just say “Guatamalan Maragogype” or “Celebes Kalossi Toraja”. My personal favourite word is poppadom - see below for potentially boring poppadom spelling trivia.
My point? Well - in the garden Hibiscus is a cracking word. Hi Bi Scusssss. Delightful! Wear this shirt to have an excuse to say a lovely word more often than usual. Oh - and coolar free are doing a 28% off thing justnow. Hurrah!
Poddadom trivia - The Oxford Dictionary can’t make it’s mind up how to spell it. Listing the word as “listed spellings include papadam, papaddam, papadom, papadum, papodam, papodum, popadam, popadom, poppadam, poppadom, poppadum, poppodam, puppadum, puppodam, puppodum. However, there is nothing to say that you cannot use the unlisted spellings papodom, popadum, poppodom, poppodum, puppadam, puppadom, and puppodom”.
Lao Tzu loves my shirt
If you ever find yourself lost for conversation while out in the world - buy this shirt from munchie brain and start arguements about your weird Taoist ways. Ten thousand creatures indeed!
We put thirty spokes together and call it a wheel;
But it is on the space where there is nothing that the usefulness of the wheel depends.

’tis the season to love gingers
Gotta love the gingers at Christmas. If you have a crimson haired wunderkid in your life, give them a laugh on Christmas morning by getting them this subtle shirt. It’s a redhead gag with a great payoff though - as the shirt looks great. Far better than some catherine tate joke shirt from cafepress. From the oddly named teeco “faqtap“.
paper swan
I love this shirt from uneetee for a simple, stupid reason that you actually need to look at it to see the joke. On a quick glance you just look like you like swans. Like one of those people with a pedigree dog that wear jumpers and fleece jackets with pictures of their dog on them.
Actually - that’s always bothered me. If I was the dog I’d be miffed that my ‘master’ had a picture of some OTHER dog on them all the time. Chances are it would be a prettier dog aswell - a model dog! Anyway - nice shirt.
bike is my castle
My bike kinda IS my castle. I can’t resist a bike tee - and I think nothing of spending money on new lights, new bottle hoops, new computers etc… and I love a good bike sticker. I haven’t started hanging lampshades on the lights - but hey - you never know… ad a bike pet sounds good. Not a fan of caged birds though - so I might get a gerbil or something to live in my bottle cage!
Great funny tee from Fair and Bare.
chainsaw killer bunny
This is the shirt for you if you have someone in your life who never stops wearing stupid jack skelington shirts (and shoes and belts and pants and hats and….). Wean them off of their tim burton thing with a shirt that’s absolutely not TB, but is on the same floor in the department store of life.
Oh - and anything with a chainsaw is great to wear on Christmas day. So why not. Killer Bunny by Assault Shirts. I really hope they do more of these cartoon gore shirts - skulls and spatter are all well and good - but you gotta love some cutesy gore!
tasty octopus
Do you ever dream about a good meal you had that evening? I do. Sometimes.
The last time was following a particularly tasty roast pheasant thing with red wine and red cabbage and red potato - all things red. I dreamt I fell into a red soup of pheasant and lobster and that the only way to survive was to remember the order of the attacks on the burglers in home alone. Was the paintcan on the rope before the heated doorknob? Gwaaah.
This was brought to mind by this great shirt from tasty tees. Partly because they are called tasty. Partly because theres an octopus. And partly because I’d assume that the naked lady riding the octopus is in the midst of a dream about a seafood platter she just ate.
Hurry up and order if you want one - only on sale until 1st Dec. Perfect Xmas gift for the seafood lover in your life.
updated tshirt design competitions
It’s well over a year since the last survey of tshirt design competitions. Back then it was all about threadless. It’s still all about threadless. But there are others. And some of them are big. Really big. Here are a dozen notable ones!
uneetee - if theres a second place to threadless, uneetee probably have it. Huge community, great designs, $1500 prize. and I love some of the shirts over the past few months.
la fraise - french site, 15000 Euro contest, what’s not to love. They even let you spill our design over onto the underwear!
design by humans - $3500 plus residuals and one of the most comprehensive guides to designing a tshirt you could wish for - even down to ink types and tiny TINY considerations. great site.
wooshka - a good old fashioned design vote print site with $500 prize. Quite a turnaround on designs too - well worth a visit.
a better tomorrow - another language barrier - another great competition 500 EURO - google traslate is your friend!
bad as hell - interesting site, lots of activity, great community, scary tshirts, good blog - as long as you can cope with the gore this is a great site. $250 if you win the competitions to get printed.
collar free - $200 may not be the biggest prize on offer here - but the vs style voting is nice. I just say which of 2 designs I like best - so the best should spill to the top - voting is the most fun of all the comp sites in my opinion.
shocker - shocker are the bad boys of tee land. If you want to offend your mom - buy a shocker. If you want to REALLY offend your mom buy a shocker you designed yourself - and make $150 while you do it.
j!nx - gamer gamer gamer - huge community, more of a community site with some tees than a teeco - but a great competition / submissions location for gamer / geek related tee ideas.
itself - $4000 isn’t too shabby! and some of the designs on the site are great, creative, and clean. Arty, jokey, crispy.
teetonic - a great wee site with a nice competition paying out £100 and 50p per shirt sold (I won’t even bother converting that into $ with the current economic meltdown ramming sterling into the ground it’ll probably be worth about $0.01 by Christmas!)
Almightys - if commission is enough for you - almightys is a neat site - 2 euro per tee sold (again - convert this using your favourite credit crunch calculator if you live outside the eurozone)
threadless homepage switcheroo
So threadless changed their homepage a short while ago. Not a huge change - but a HUGE change. They seem to have moved away from being a design competition site to being a tshirt site, with a bit of a design competition running in the background.
Maybe I’m over reacting - but the “shop | participate” menu always made me smile. It’s changed to “Guys | Girls | Participate” - it’s as thought the ’shop’ part is assumed now. Boo! It should be the other way around. Voting should be step one! Still number on in the chart by a mile though, so must be going down well.
