credit crunchless cassida
So we are in recession. Nice. I never liked money anyway. It just gets crumbled in your pocket and then the guy at the sweet shop says he thinks it’s a fake and you have to go to the atm again. Bah. We’re better off without it. Back to a life of hunting and gathering - that’s the life for me. Use your last 120 EURO on this tee from cassida. If you’re going to hunt and gather, you might as well do it in an expensive top! (not that expensive though - we got a coupon code for you - discount of 20% with : “discount20″ )
And if you worry that 120 EURO might be too much - it has a shoulder print too! At least doubling the cool factor. Also has the advantage of identifying you from behind - so that your fellow uhnters and gatherers will know not to shoot you in the back and eat you.
univers-al approval
Ho ho ho. Such a word play wonder huh! I missed this shirt when it came out - I think - but have to post it now. Love the type designs coming from TypographyShop. There are a number of similar designs around - but you know how every other mp3 player just looks a bit rough around the edges because of the iPod? Same here. If you need a type tee - get this one.
yes style
Wow - I just lost an hour trawling a tee site - that doesn’t happen very often. Two reasons. One, there are hundreds of tees in there, all very wearable, very civilised, things your mom would approve of. But that doesn’t mean they’re boring - there’s loads of interesting stuff in here. It’s just that they don’t have bad jokes, innuendo, or movie references all over the place.
The second reason is the sheer amount of photography on the site. The philosophy is obviously that once the model is in the tee, just keep snapping. Once you’ve snapped - publish. Makes for a very comprehensive site, you know EXACTLY what you’ll be buying. The site has more than just tees, but enough tees to be worth a mention.
Third reason - I know I said two, but there are three. Free international shipping. FREE international shipping - on most stuff. Great stuff. Some example pics - just have a rummage on the Tee links.
just smashing
Smashing Darling do a LOT more than just tees. Not that I care. Tee + pants = fully clothed in my book. The site collects a bunch of designers work into one place - with some really interesting, mainly low key, work on show. Some of the standout stuff linked up below. Watch the pricing, as some of the stuff is pretty labour intensively custom the pricing varies widely - like $12 to $80 for a shirt.

Tree lined teee by Whosiepie is simple, unusual, and perfect for the subtly mid green look. Cloak and dagger by student smashup is unusual - The design is printed on the lower-right, back corner of the shirt so it looks like the knife-fighter is jumping into your pocket. Che reverse by Che Woo is a nice eye hurter - clashing colours, gotta love ‘em.
Also - make sure you HUNT for stuff. The categories hide some of the best stuff away - they don’t just have boys and girls, they do ages and stuff too.
Startup schwag
I just received the latest startup schwag package on return from my new years break. Sign up for yours here.

It’s an interesting collection of stickers and another cool tee. Now lets be honest, I’d never go into a store and shout ‘yay -that’s exactly the tee I’m after’. But hey - it has a certain geek value. It’s not as in your face as the techcrunch or reddit shirts, so is a bit more wearable.
It also seems to work for the company on the front of the tee - as I felt compelled to open an imeem account just in case someone asked me about the tee.

The team at startup schwag also take things pretty seriously - allowing you to spec a different size when the tee will be printed on AA for example. Essential for some. The occassional spoilers on the blog could be better flagged though - half the fun is in not knowing what’s going to arrive on the doorstep.
I know of a few other monthly tee schemes, but they tend to exist outwith the usual tee sites - and be totally nichey. If you know of any drop me a line. I have a feeling that 2008 will be the year of the obscure tshirt.
girly tops with attitude
I know these aren’t strictly tees, but sometimes out female readers need to wear something a little more subtle and … well… pretty. Lochers to the rescue.

The kind of slogans you expect to see on a screenprinted AA tee turn up embroidered into a floaty tunic top, the You Suck below is a pretty subtle example. One or two would make your mum blush! Nicely edgy. Very girly. This is the future guys!
Other teecos should have a look at the website too - amazingly good fun to look through, and not just for the hot model.

And another excellent pre Xmas free shipping offer. “Totally free world wide shipping on all of our items (from now until December 20th)! Just enter the word “cupcake” in the Coupon Code / Promotional Code field at the end of your checkout, and hit the apply button, and the shipping is totally free anywhere in the world”.

stone roses wanna be adored
Worn By is an interesting label. “Worn By is a label dedicated to recreating garments once worn by icons of the past, using original iconic images.” All the main tee pages have a photo of some iconic celeb / musician wearing a similar shirt. The shirt you are about to buy is a replica / rip off / riff on that original shirt.
We’re talking Mick and Keef, Roger Daltrey, Patti Smith, The Specials. A Joyous collection. UK premium label, so by the time you get one of these to the US it will have topped a hundred bucks. Worth it though. You can say “This is exactly like a replica of the tee Mick Jagger once wore”.

The Stone Roses tee has a great low print, in the ‘words by‘ collection - not shirts they wore, words they said / sang. Limited edition, £60.
vintage slush puppy
Vintage Tshirts are cool. Fake vintage Tshirts are also cool. They are also cheaper, and less likely to have been worn by someone freaky. They are also more likely to look ‘vintage’ rather than ‘old’. An important distinction. The printing on these tees, Slush Puppies shown below, from Famous Forever at truffleshuffle looks excellent. Quite a varied range, with a few standouts, not cheap (about $50+postage from UK), but worth it. Probably.

new tees: pigs against racist
This shirt from Allmightys.com made me laugh more than any other shirt for months. I don’t know why. In an odd way I suspect it’s the perfect greens that have been chosen on the olive boys shirt. Along with that 3 of my favourite things in the word are there - spotloghts, aliens and floating question marks. Get there quick if your a big girl - stock is dwindling! The shirt was silver prize winner in the last t-shirt competition at Allmightys.
