Weirdy prints
What is it about tee designers that leads to these weird universes populated by bizarro creatures andmulti eyed bears? Don’t get me wrong - I kinda like this kind of thing and a better tomorrow knock out a lot of quality stuff. But I dreamt of a hundred drumming bears with one eye bigger than the other last night. They were lining my stomach preventing the digestion of my supper. It was disturbing - and I blame this tee. So well done!
dating through the medium of tee
You have to love the ingenuity of this one - a combined custom tee and niche dating site. Basically you print a custom teeshirt saying ‘hornyboy’ or something like that, and the domain name of the site - shirtdater.com. Gotta love it.
yes style
Wow - I just lost an hour trawling a tee site - that doesn’t happen very often. Two reasons. One, there are hundreds of tees in there, all very wearable, very civilised, things your mom would approve of. But that doesn’t mean they’re boring - there’s loads of interesting stuff in here. It’s just that they don’t have bad jokes, innuendo, or movie references all over the place.
The second reason is the sheer amount of photography on the site. The philosophy is obviously that once the model is in the tee, just keep snapping. Once you’ve snapped - publish. Makes for a very comprehensive site, you know EXACTLY what you’ll be buying. The site has more than just tees, but enough tees to be worth a mention.
Third reason - I know I said two, but there are three. Free international shipping. FREE international shipping - on most stuff. Great stuff. Some example pics - just have a rummage on the Tee links.
wwf? lovin’ the animals!
WWF / WTF - same difference? I got all confused when they changed their name from world wildlife foundation to world wildlife fund and then dropped the world bit and just decided to be WWF. Internationalisation! Confuses everything. Cute logo though! Nice mash from tshirtbordello.
glove pocket
Sweet - a tshirt with a built in oven glove. “for practical girls who would like to keep their IDs, banknotes or ipods in a handy place”. Also useful on a chilly night to keep one hand warm - what you do with the other I wouldn’t like to guess.
From a new and pretty interesting site called ‘itself tshirts‘. Another competition site, with a top prize of $4000 - which ain’t too shabby.
supermandolini sale
I don’t normally post sale notices, but it would be churlish not to mention the sale since it’s on right now.
The real reason for the post is to cover a couple of shirts which I like despite myself. I think it’s because they are slightly overdone basics, but with a subtle print that could be abstract to non geeks, so lend themselves to that same smug arrogance that a binary joke gives the nerdy shirt wearer.
Takeoff tee. The sale gives 25% off if you buy 2 tees. Which is half price off the second tee, which sounds like more.
vintage swimmers
I think the guy in the middle of this tee looks like some 19th century swimmer version of where’s wally / waldo. And for that reason alone I would love this shirt. Add to that the dark grey base, my predisposition towards the lovely labels in the back of art in the age shirts, and the whole get fit for summer vibe and you get the idea … I like this shirt.
teeco chart update
Calling all teecos, tee designers, and tee PRs. The May teeco chart is coming together, and I just wanted to put a call out inviting anyone who thinks we might not know about them to shout in comments below, or to email steve@omgtees.com to let us add you to the tracker. If you ain’t in the tracker, you ain’t in the chart - simple as that. You have been warned!

yeti feet envy
Poor old Yeti - but about time Threadless got me interested again. I’ve been a bit bored with them for a few months. I love the feel of this one though:

I’ve often thought that Yeti can’t exist exactly because of the big feet. He’d need big feet to not fall through the snow. But he’d need tiny feet because big feet would lose too much heat. I remember getting into a fight when I was about 10 over that. Jeez - 10 years old and arguing about the physics of mythic creature feet. Loser!
just smashing
Smashing Darling do a LOT more than just tees. Not that I care. Tee + pants = fully clothed in my book. The site collects a bunch of designers work into one place - with some really interesting, mainly low key, work on show. Some of the standout stuff linked up below. Watch the pricing, as some of the stuff is pretty labour intensively custom the pricing varies widely - like $12 to $80 for a shirt.

Tree lined teee by Whosiepie is simple, unusual, and perfect for the subtly mid green look. Cloak and dagger by student smashup is unusual - The design is printed on the lower-right, back corner of the shirt so it looks like the knife-fighter is jumping into your pocket. Che reverse by Che Woo is a nice eye hurter - clashing colours, gotta love ‘em.
Also - make sure you HUNT for stuff. The categories hide some of the best stuff away - they don’t just have boys and girls, they do ages and stuff too.
pirate tee
I don’t pirate music. Honest! But I know some of you rebellious young guns probably do. You might as well make it easy for the man when he comes to shoot you in the head for being evil. Wear this shirt so he gets you, not your little sister. (via boingboing)

tenbills cheapies!
Morning folks. I just got a nice message from TenBills - “Your readers can get 20% off their purchase with code: SAVETWENTY (expires 2/15/2008).” Just head on over to turn ten bills into eight bills - as it were.
Skip the main site and hop straight into the quick order catalog. Every teeco should have one of these - so quick and easy to spend too much money! Pic below is of Gemini - a two pack. Same tee, different colours. Nice.

repunation - comedy national insults.
Slogan tees can be a bore - unless they do something a little differently. Repunation does things a little differently. A bunch of slickly typeset, hard hitting or just plain funny national insults / stereotypes.

The photography is great. Interesting scenes, well shot, in the real tee. No odd photoshopping here. You DO run the risk of being barred entry to clubs, and being smacked in the mouth if you run into touchy foreigners wearing these though. These would make great gifts for people living abroad. Ambiguous shirts galore!

shirts of 2007
I don’t post links to other blogs often enough. Call this a new years resolution! Addicteed.com is a great blog, and just posted their tshirts of 2007 post - a massive flickr gallery of every tee they covered in 2007. An idea I am bound to shamelessly rip off at some point in the future. Great stuff to spend 5 minutes rummaging in.

Startup schwag
I just received the latest startup schwag package on return from my new years break. Sign up for yours here.

It’s an interesting collection of stickers and another cool tee. Now lets be honest, I’d never go into a store and shout ‘yay -that’s exactly the tee I’m after’. But hey - it has a certain geek value. It’s not as in your face as the techcrunch or reddit shirts, so is a bit more wearable.
It also seems to work for the company on the front of the tee - as I felt compelled to open an imeem account just in case someone asked me about the tee.

The team at startup schwag also take things pretty seriously - allowing you to spec a different size when the tee will be printed on AA for example. Essential for some. The occassional spoilers on the blog could be better flagged though - half the fun is in not knowing what’s going to arrive on the doorstep.
I know of a few other monthly tee schemes, but they tend to exist outwith the usual tee sites - and be totally nichey. If you know of any drop me a line. I have a feeling that 2008 will be the year of the obscure tshirt.
